Irazabalbeitia wrote Comissioner Reding on the Gorroño case

Inaki Irazabalbeitia wrote a letter to the European Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship on the Gernica major Jose Maria Gorroño. The magistrate of the National Court Mr.Pedraz set a date for Mr.Gorroño to testify on the charges of terrorism exaltation for the award given to Mr. Arnaldo Otegi by the Gernika City Hall for the latter´s contribution to peace.
In the letter Irazabalbeitia expresses the Commissioner his concerns on the abusive use of the current exception legislation in the Spanish State and the negative consequences for Jose Maria Gorroño´s civil and political rights. He demands the Commissioner to do a follow-up on the process.
Besides, Irazabalbeitia the Commissioner the current exception legislation is senseless in the current political situation and that its abusive use could harm the citizen´s civil and political rights. He asks the Commissioner to transmit the Spanish Government the need to repeal the exception legislation in order to guarantee the citizens´fundamental rights.
